Privacy Policy
Effective date: June 3, 2026 · Last updated: June 3, 2026
The short version. Nutrx is a nutrition app. Most of your information — your profile, goals, and logged meals — is stored on your device and in your own iCloud account, which we cannot see. We don't run user accounts, we don't show ads, and we don't track you across other apps or sell your data. When you use AI features (analyzing a meal photo, a description, or a voice note), that specific content is sent to our server and a third-party AI provider only to produce your nutrition results — it is never used for advertising and is not used to train the AI provider's models. Data from Apple Health is used only inside the app and is never shared for advertising.
Who we are
Nutrx (the "app") is operated by Antonio Netto, doing business as Nutrx ("Nutrx", "we", "us", "our"). This policy explains what the Nutrx iOS app collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. If you have any questions, email hello@nutrx.ai.
Information we collect
We collect only what the app needs to work. The exact information involved depends on the features you use.
Profile & goals (stored in your iCloud)
Information you enter to set up the app — such as a name or nickname, an optional email, date of birth, biological sex, height, weight, activity level, dietary preferences and restrictions, and your nutrition goals. This is stored on your device and synced through your private iCloud account. Nutrx does not have access to your private iCloud data.
Meals you log
Foods, portions, times, hydration, and notes. When you log a meal by photo, text description, or voice, that content is processed to recognize the food and estimate nutrition (see AI features).
Apple Health (HealthKit) data
With your permission, the app reads and writes specific Health data. See the dedicated Apple Health section below.
Weight-loss medication (optional, sensitive)
On supported iOS versions, and only if you allow it, the app reads from Apple Health whether you use a GLP-1 / GIP weight-loss medication, solely to tailor your nutrition guidance. This stays in your profile (your iCloud), is never used for advertising, and is never shared with third parties for their own purposes.
Subscriptions & purchases
If you subscribe to a paid plan, your payment is processed by Apple through your Apple ID. We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. We receive purchase and entitlement status tied to an anonymous identifier — not your name or payment card. We never see your card details.
Diagnostics & usage
Crash and performance diagnostics (via Firebase Crashlytics) to help us fix bugs. Optional, consent-based product analytics (via Firebase Analytics) — this is off by default and only runs if you turn it on. Analytics events are limited to in-app actions (for example, that a feature was used). We do not collect Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA) and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.
Device & notification identifiers
A push-notification token (via Firebase Cloud Messaging) if you enable notifications, and an anonymous app-user identifier derived from your iCloud account, used to deliver your subscription entitlements and your AI results. The app does not use Apple's advertising identifier and does not ask to track you.
Location (optional)
If you grant permission, approximate location is used at the moment you ask to find nearby food options. We do not continuously track your location or keep a location history on our servers.
Apple Health (HealthKit)
Nutrx integrates with Apple Health so your nutrition data stays in one place. Access is always under your control.
- What we read (with your permission): dietary energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates; active energy burned; height; body mass (weight); date of birth; biological sex; and, on supported versions, weight-loss medication status.
- What we write (with your permission): the nutrition you log (energy, protein, fat, and carbohydrates) back into Apple Health.
- You control access per data type in the Health app or iOS Settings, and you can revoke it at any time.
- We never use Health data for advertising or marketing.
- We never sell your Health data, and we do not share it with third parties or data brokers.
- Health data is used only to provide the app's nutrition and health-tracking features — to populate your profile, calculate your intake, and personalize your in-app experience.
Health data obtained from Apple Health stays on your device and in your private iCloud account. It is not sent to our AI provider unless you explicitly submit it as part of a meal you ask us to analyze.
AI features and off-device processing
Nutrx uses AI to recognize foods and estimate nutrition.
- When you analyze a meal by photo, text description, or voice, that content (the image, the text, or the transcribed text of your voice note) is sent over an encrypted connection to our server and then to a third-party AI provider (OpenRouter, which routes the request to a large-language-model provider) solely to generate your nutrition result.
- When you ask the app to estimate nutrition targets, we may send relevant profile inputs (such as age, biological sex, height, weight, and goals) to our server to compute recommendations.
- Your inputs are not used to train the AI provider's models.
- This content is used to produce your result and for the limited purposes of operating, securing, and debugging the service. It is not used for advertising and is not sold.
- Requests are authenticated with an anonymous identifier and an app-integrity token; we do not attach your name or contact details.
How we use your information
- Provide core features: log meals, recognize foods, calculate intake, set and track goals, and sync across your devices via iCloud.
- Personalize your nutrition guidance.
- Process and manage your subscription.
- Keep the app reliable and secure (diagnostics, abuse prevention, debugging).
- Send notifications you enable.
- Improve the app, using consent-based analytics only.
Legal bases (EEA/UK): performance of our contract with you (providing the app); your consent (Health access, analytics, notifications, and location); and our legitimate interests (security, debugging, and improving the app).
Where your data lives
- On your device and in your iCloud. Your profile, goals, and meal history are stored locally and synced through Apple's iCloud (CloudKit) to your private iCloud database. Nutrx cannot access your private iCloud data. Apple's handling of iCloud is governed by Apple's privacy policy.
- On our server, transiently, for AI features. Meal content you submit for analysis passes through our server (hosted on Cloudflare) and the AI provider to return a result.
- We do not keep a separate copy of your nutrition database on our own servers.
Who we share information with
We do not sell your data or share it for anyone else's advertising. We share limited information with service providers who help us run the app:
- Apple — iCloud sync, in-app purchases and payments, and Apple Health (per your permissions).
- RevenueCat — subscription management (purchase status tied to an anonymous identifier).
- Google Firebase — Crashlytics (crash diagnostics), Cloud Messaging (push notifications), App Check (app integrity), Remote Config, and optional, consent-based Analytics.
- OpenRouter and large-language-model providers — AI processing of meal content you submit (not used to train their models).
- Cloudflare — hosts our backend service.
We may also disclose information if required by law, to protect rights and safety, or as part of a business transfer (with continued protection of your information).
Data retention and deletion
- Most of your data lives in your iCloud and on your device. You can delete it at any time by deleting your data from within the app where available, by removing the app and its iCloud data (Settings → your name → iCloud → Manage Account Storage → Nutrx), or by emailing us.
- Meal content sent for AI analysis is retained only as long as needed to return your result and to operate and secure the service, then deleted or de-identified.
- Diagnostics and consent-based analytics are retained for limited periods by our providers.
- To request deletion or ask a question, email hello@nutrx.ai.
Your rights and choices
Depending on where you live (for example, GDPR in the EEA/UK, CCPA/CPRA in California, and LGPD in Brazil), you may have rights to access, correct, delete, port, or restrict your information, and to opt out of "sale" or "sharing" — which we do not do. You can:
- Manage Health permissions in the Health app or iOS Settings.
- Turn analytics on or off in the app.
- Manage or cancel your subscription in the App Store.
- Delete your data in the app, or email hello@nutrx.ai to exercise any right.
We do not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights.
Children's privacy
Nutrx is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child has provided us information, contact us and we will delete it.
Security
We use encryption in transit, Apple's on-device protections, and app-integrity checks to help protect your information. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we work to safeguard your data.
International transfers
Your meal-analysis requests may be processed on servers in the United States or other countries. Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for international transfers.
"Do Not Track"
We do not track you across other apps or websites, so we do not respond to browser "Do Not Track" signals.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. We will post the new version here and update the date above; significant changes may also be highlighted in the app.
